PLATFORM

"It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us - that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the full measure of devotion - that we here high resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain - that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom - and that the government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the Earth." Abraham Lincoln
LIST OF ISSUES
Restoring Our Founding Values

In order to restore the Will of the People, we will support three types of electoral reform.

  1. Mixed-Member Proportional System

  2. Ranked Voting

  3. Run-Off Elections

Mixed-Member Proportional System allows voters to vote for their preferred candidate and their preferred party separately in two different rounds. During the first round, voters would vote for the one candidate they like regardless of party and the candidates with the most votes win. In the second round, voters vote for the party they prefer.  Then the number of representatives would be based on the percentage of votes each party received.

This system is currently used in New Zealand, Scotland, Wales, and Germany.  (The following links are videos that describes this type of system):

Ranked Voting is a system where voters rank all the candidates that are running.  Their preferred candidate is assigned a “1”, the second favorite candidate is assigned a “2”, etc. Candidates with the majority of the vote win. If none of the candidates receives greater than 50% of the vote then the candidate with the fewest votes is eliminated. Any vote cast for the eliminated candidate will then be allotted to the voter's second choice. This process continues until either one candidate remains or wins an outright majority. The advantage is that it allows individuals to vote for 3rd party independent voices without giving an advantage to an opposing party.

Run-off elections replace the current primary system by having all the candidates run against each other in the primary. The top candidates, regardless of party, moves on to the general election. This system would work favorably in regions where there is effectively one-party rule.

The goals with these reforms is to allow for independent 3rd parties to succeed, to make local races more competitive, and to have representation that reflects the People's will.

Eliminate Veteran Homelessness

All of those who risked their lives defending our freedoms so we may continue our lives unabated from foreign threats not only deserve the proper gratitude from all citizens, but also programs to help those who desperately need help. In this endeavor, we will propose a housing policy based upon Utah's Housing First Program to eliminate Veteran Homelessness. This fiscally responsible program reduced homelessness by over 90% in Utah and did not include excessive government interference within the markets. It is our duty to serve those who were willing to sacrifice everything for the good of the nation.

Municipal Consolidation

Property Taxes are one of the biggest contributing factor in New Jersey's affordability crisis and one that has been inflicted upon the Middle Class for decades. One solution is to consolidate municipalities or to combine resources in order to reduce this tax burden.  This is not a new idea as consolidation has been discussed before. The problem with past attempts was either the state was the chief arbitrator and enforcer or it was left to the towns to agree to consolidate. The policy of this campaign is for consolidation to be conducted at the county level.

We propose a four-year plan that includes research, public scrutiny, and municipality review and approval. The advantage of having the county lead these efforts is that the county understands the needs of their municipalities and can mediate the agreements. Even if the towns themselves do not merge, the goal of this plan is for services to be combined under one administration wherein resources are shared thus reducing inefficiencies and duplicate spending.
